Beena and Thomas
The first big hit of the New Year is ‘Katha Parayumbol’ starring Shrinivasan and Mammooty in the lead roles. Meena had played the role of Shrinivasan’s wife. P Vasu was so impressed by the film that he is now going to remake it in Tamil with Rajinikanth and Pasupathy in the lead.
They have brought in Tabu to play the role of Pasupathy’s wife. Nayantara will most likely be Rajinikanth’s heroine. It is Rajinikanth’s next film that everybody is more curious about- ‘Robot’. There is still confusion about the heroine of this film. Aishwarya Rai says that she has accepted the offer. But it remains to be seen if casting her in the role is such a good idea. Shankar is known for his slow and extravagant pace of filmmaking. That would mean that it would be atleast the middle of 2009 before the film makes its way to the theatres (and this is only if Shankar really rushes with his work). The fact that Aishwarya has got married itself is going to be a big negative for her. If she decides to have a child by then, the film will run into big troubles.
Some sections of the media claim that Deepika Padukone has accepted the offer to star in the film. There might be another heroine too. The film’s story is pretty simple- a scientist makes a robot to do welfare for the people. Te robot develops a programming error and ends up with a mind of its own. It turns against humanity and now the scientist has to fight with his own invention and destroy it. Lot of money is going to be spent to create the futuristic sets.
It remains to be seen if the director is able to explain his story to the masses that still wouldn’t know much about robots.
Mammooty’s latest film ‘Roudram’ hit the theatres and not many are happy with the way it has turned out. This is the 26th time that he has played the role of the cop. But this time around, critics claim that the roles are becoming a bit too clichéd. Everybody says that it is the director who is running out of ideas.
Blessy’s new ‘Calcutta News’ earned good reviews and he is enjoying the success of the film at the box office. The film industry eagerly awaits news about his new films.
Mohanlal is waiting for ‘College Kumaran’ to do the trick for him. It is about time ‘Sound of Boots’ hit the theaters.
