They were in search of someone who lived in Chennai and who wasn't interested in the money or fame that she had earned as an actress. Meena was an extremely popular star when she was at the peak of her career and everybody thought that she wouldn't have problems finding a man with those qualifications.

The actress also had maintained a controversy-free image until recently, when she was linked with some Kannada actors.

But she has now announced that she has lost her interest in marriage and has decided to stay single for the rest of her life and look after her mother.

Her mother says that she isn't happy with the decision.
