'Kolkotta News' rocks!
- 25.01.2008
Director Blessy is one happy man these days. His much-delayed 'Kolkotta News' has got rave reviews from critics and fans alike.
Until now, Blessy stuck to making films that deal with human emotions. Most of his films were set in village backdrops. His last film 'Palungu' didn't quite make waves at the box office and everybody began to wonder if the director was capable enough to step away from the village milieu and make a city-based subject with some fast-paced action in it.
Blessy returned with 'Kolkotta News', a film that has all his usual ingredients and a fast-paced story.
The film, about a TV reporter who stumbles upon a sex-racket, has some excellent performances by the lead pair of Dileep, Meera Jasmine and others. Most of the film happens in Kolkotta, which is another unique feature of the film. This is the first Malayalam film to be shot almost entirely in the city.
Meera Jasmine's performance as the innocent widow of the man behind the sex-racket is brilliant.
The film will turn out to be the kind of hit that Dileep was looking for.
Congratulations, Blessy!
